The educational program includes a unique lineup of presenters, invited lecturers and speakers from leading sleep programs and medical centers around the country. Participants include sleep physicians, clinical researchers, Pulmonologists, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Internal Medicine and Primary Care Physicians, Nurses, clinical sleep educators, sleep technologists, Respiratory Therapists, Sleep Fellows, Residents and students. The Southern Sleep Society continues to succeed because of the caliber of speakers and educational content.

2022 Founders’ Award

Abstracts are being accepted for oral presentations for the 44th Annual Southern Sleep Society meeting, being held on April 21-24, 2022 at Sheraton Birmingham Hotel in Birmingham, AL. Fellows, Residents and Interns are invited to participate in the Southern Sleep Society’s Annual Founders’ Award competition. The award is presented to young investigators submitting abstracts on original research in Sleep Medicine. The Southern Sleep Society meeting provides the perfect setting for Fellows, Residents, medical students and Interns who want to have the experience of presenting before a live audience.

Sheraton Birmingham Hotel is located at 2101 Richard Arrington Jr. Boulevard North, Birmingham, AL 35203. The phone number is 205-324-5000. The hotel has offered Southern Sleep Society attendees a generous room rate of $159 per night plus applicable state and local tax (currently 17.5% per room per night) for Standard King/Double Rooms and Jr. Suite. Check in time is 4:00 PM and check out is 11:00 AM. Individuals must make their own reservations by calling the hotel or through the reservation link provided below. All reservations must be accompanied by a first night room deposit or guaranteed with a major credit card. The cut-off date for Southern Sleep Society rate is March 28, 2022 at 5:00 PM.

Join us for an exciting and challenging golf outing on Robert Trent Jones Trail at Oxmoor Valley Golf Club — Ridge Course. This is a 54-hole facility in Birmingham, the largest city in Alabama, built on former mining land owned by U.S. Steel.

Sculpted from the peaks and valleys of the Appalachians, the courses offer scenic forests, numerous creeks and challenging elevation changes. The Ridge course, with its roller coaster fairways, heavy tree cover and precipitous 150-foot elevation changes, is incredibly photogenic and features some of the most spectacular par 5’s on the Trail.

The 18-hole “Ridge” course at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at the Oxmoor Valley facility in Birmingham, Alabama features 6,527 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 71.6 and it has a slope rating of 136 on Bermuda grass. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, ASGCA, the Ridge golf course opened in 1992.
